ABOUT THE YANUNI FUND

The YANUNI FUND was created to strengthen the resistance and autonomy of Indigenous Peoples in defending their territories, cultures, and the Amazon.

Through the creation of a five-year impact platform (2026–2030) coordinated by the Juma Institute, the Fund will channel resources toward long-term initiatives led by Indigenous leaders across the southwestern region of Pará. These initiatives will focus on Indigenous rights, women’s leadership, territorial management, cultural strengthening, traditional medicine, bioeconomy, and food sovereignty.

The Juma Institute was born from the need to build something different — an organization capable of acting with autonomy, creating opportunities, strengthening people and communities, and supporting solutions without depending on specific political or territorial structures. Its roots are in the Amazon, and its leadership is grounded in an Indigenous vision. But its mission does not belong to a single people, territory, or community. You are invited to be part of this story of transformation.

Over 3 million people have seen @juma_xipaia’s story in @yanunifilm - now help us continue the fight by supporting the YANUNI FUND.

YANUNI is an award-winning documentary streaming now on @YouTube, and has been seen over 3 million times. Directed by @richardladkani and co-produced by @LeonardoDiCaprio, it’s a true story of love and resistance and a must watch.

And we need your help to support Juma’s story further. Of the billions that has been raised to protect the Amazon, only a small percentage of it actually reaches communities on the frontlines. In partnership with Instituto Juma, the YANUNI FUND has been built to strengthen the resistance and autonomy of Indigenous peoples defending their territories, their cultures, and the Amazon, funding those directly on the frontlines.

FILM A PERSONAL VIDEO ABOUT YANUNI

One of the most powerful ways to support this campaign is by recording a personal 30–90 second video explaining why YANUNI and Juma's story is so important, illuminating one of the world's most critical environmental and human rights struggles through a deeply personal lens.
